It's little wonder why construction leaders and senior stakeholders roll their eyes at the thought of another IT deployment sold as solving their team collaboration and reporting needs. Despite the promise of eliminating 'troublesome spreadsheets', even the largest enterprise IT systems fail to meet this challenge. Each adds another 'data silo' that amplifies the struggle to get a simple joined-up view of 'what's happening right now' across many complex projects. Spreadsheets continue as the lingua franca for both adaptive reporting and workflow support from the coal face to the Board.
So lets purchase another IT system to replace the spreadsheets? We think not.
Insight connects construction data silos. Data from enterprise applications, 'home grown' databases and Excel™ spreadsheets is joined in real-time. This single-version-of the truth is securely shared throughout the organisation. Unique, bi-directional connectivity with Excel™ spreadsheets makes simple work of integrating any data that is not present in IT systems such as KPIs for HS&E, quality and Customer Satisfaction.
Insight spans business functions and project portfolio boundaries. Senior leadership benefit from always-current insight. Team collaboration is far tighter with data flowed around the organisation to right where it's needed, even directly into those Excel™ spreadsheets. Manual data copy & pasting is reduced by up to 97% meaning a lot of time back into diaries and less stress.
Robots won't be taking over any time soon, so Insight is focused on people, enabling faster, simpler workflows with clear insights right for each stakeholder. Insight is unique in embracing spreadsheets, while eliminating their weaknesses. This level of familiarity and flexibility is unmatched.
Our team of business and projects professionals work with business leaders and stakeholders from the start. But this is not an expensive and slow process. Insight's unique technology is proven to deliver internationally in under 4 months at a fraction of the cost of typical IT deployments and without the disruption. Efficiency gains of over 90% in some areas puts valuable time back in the diaries of key workers.
It's easy to get started with our proven six step process. We're confident that Insight will deliver compelling value, even in organisations already investing in large enterprise IT systems. So much so that we offer initial analysis and a report completely free of charge.
Ramboll, like most well-run construction companies, are locked into improving margins and sales. In 2015 they created a “Project Excellence” programme to improve the way they operated 100’s of major projects with a portfolio value of around £600m. Their objectives were to reduce costs while improving performance, increase customer satisfaction and attract key talent. Ramboll were clear that the control of projects needed to work effectively at every management layer from the PMs to the Board, from Operations to Finance. Their reasoning being:·
Governance and controls were carefully constructed, extending back to projects prior to contract.
Ramboll were left with one hurdle… the flow of accurate data critical to effective controls
The data required existed in IT systems and in many spreadsheets that were not amenable to replacement. Blue-chip IT suppliers had tried but failed. In Ramboll there was a feeling that they’d reached an insurmountable hurdle.
By the time we were introduced to Ramboll, they were adamant about avoiding a disruptive, risky and costly enterprise IT deployment. They did not want to lose the value in spreadsheets. These had been crafted to precisely meet needs and many contained data that simply did not exist in their IT systems. This included KPIs and data around Change, Quality and HS&E.
They wanted to overcome the lack of scalability, delayed reporting, significant manual data manipulation and continuous error correction.
The leap forward
The leap forward brought to Ramboll was the ability to quickly integrate data from existing IT systems and retain their Excel™ spreadsheets. They’d be connected together “real-time” via a cloud database. A single version of the truth that’d connect all management levels.Non-disruptive, low cost and simple. Unlike all other software vendors, the technology would be shaped to suit Ramboll and not the other way around. Everything would be delivered as a business solution. No IT skills would be needed.
Less than four months later and Ramboll are delighted with the results, all the way up to the Group Board. A sustainable>10% margin improvement. Customer rating scores increased. Live in 35 countries with a deployment they described as ‘so smooth it was barely noticed’.

What Ramboll say
GLC’s unique approach to connecting people in multi-project environments captured my attention. I wanted to avoid the inherent risks of adopting yet another software application. GLC have delivered impressive results. Real-time status and forecasting are enabling stakeholders to make faster, better decisions.
Effective portfolio governance is contributing to continued improvements of our bottom line and providing an effective early warning system that allows effective decision making and timely mitigation of issues. I’m delighted this is a trend we can now continue.
